Why the Urban Explorer was created:
We recently became interested in Photography as of November '09. We've used mostly film camera's before, but now own 2 Digital Cameras, but what prompted us to photograph vacant buildings was on Flickr. We've had an eye on vacant structures & seems like a good topic to cover.
Majority of the photos were taken in Indianapolis, IN & the surrounding counties, until July of '10 we went out of state and included Ohio & Kentucky to the site, more of these states along with others will be added eventually.
About my Entrances:
Once an abandonment has been found, Our goal is to of course take photos, but also to get inside shots as well. We also strive to get history information, and most of the time something; whether it be a piece of paper, business card, or another artifact that will identify who occupied the building prior to its abandonment, in most cases, We can find something.
Since we enter the buildings, as a Disclaimer: We DO NOT break into buildings - if the place has an access point, we will enter at our own risk.
About the Forum:
The reason why we've gone with the forum - is its a different & unique way to display the photos, its easy to keep maintained. takes less space on the site, & doesn't put a drag on the servers which host this site.
About the Blog:
The Blog serves as a System-Wide Updater for any changes, add-ons that occur. It will cover the Forum, Site updates, as well as Upcoming Expeditions that may be on the list. Be sure to check it out for the latest updates.
